Being as this is my first post, I’ll take a moment to tell you a little about myself. To answer the question I always get, yes, the shirt and collar are real. I was a preacher once upon a time, long ago in a land far away, blah blah blah. I’ve written a lot about why I left that life, and you can read about that here if you want to. But this blog is going to be all about the whiskey.
I got converted to the fiery water of life some years back by Brad Whittington. This was back in the early ’80s in Waco. We were both in our 20s and used to hang out on his back porch and he gave me cigars and whiskey until yea verily I did see the light. The fiery burning in my throat portended a moment of clarity. I took to whiskey like a duck to water, and it’s been all signs and wonders since then.
I decided to get serious and went to Daniel Whittington’s whiskey school a couple of years ago, and I became a bonafide sommelier. Yep, it’s official. I got the big-ass tacky medallion and everything. I do whiskey tasting events and now plan to write about whiskey as well.
I’ve got a buddy you might know. He keeps his name a secret and just goes by “Boosh.” He also writes about whiskey, and in my view, does so in a unique way with a lot of passion and cussing. We’ve known each other for a long time, and he’s mentioned me a time or two on his blog.
I think that’s enough of introductions, don’t you? Let’s see where this journey takes us.
